We
are the Greenwich Branch of
Cats Protection, a UK Registered Charity dedicated to rescuing,
neutering and
re-homing unwanted and stray cats.
Our
Branch workers are all volunteers, and we raise the money we need
to pay for the care and veterinary treatment of our rescued cats
from our shop in Blackheath, by organising fund-raising events,
and from donations from the public and our Branch members.
If
you can spare as little as a few hours a month, either working
with cats or helping in our shop, we'd love to hear from you!
To
get involved in the work of the Greenwich Branch or just have
a chat about how you could help, either caring for cats or working
in our shop, please give us a call at the shop on
020 8858 2220 or send
us an email. |

A cat
called Phoebe
Phoebe is a very sweet natured little tortoiseshell cat, who
although only four years old, has had to put up with an awful
lot in her short lifetime!
She was abandoned as a kitten and survived by begging for crisps
and leftovers from kindly drinkers in a Greenwich pub. This was
a dangerous way of life though, and she was hit by a car, then
savaged by a Jack Russell. Fortunately she was taken to a vet
where her life was saved, but half of her tail had to be removed.
After this she came into the care of Cats Protection. Her accidents
have left Phoebe with damage to her pelvis and intestines, which
means that although she can live a happy life without pain, she
does need to stick to a special diet, and also has to see a vet
regularly. CP policy is to never put a healthy cat to sleep, and
so we will now continue to look after Phoebe.
Unfortunately Phoebe’s condition could get worse with time, but
luckily she knows nothing of that, and is a very lively and affectionate
little cat. Phoebe is now cared for by Sheila Boswell, one of
our very dedicated fosterers, and is deservedly being cherished
for the sweet and brave little cat she is!
As Greenwich CP now cover Phoebe’s ongoing vets bills, and paid
for the emergency treatment after her accident, which amounted
to over £1700, we have launched an appeal to Support Phoebe…
And your help would be very much appreciated. Any donation towards
the cost of her care, or an ongoing payment by standing order,
would really help us to look after Phoebe and make sure that she
gets all the special food and veterinary care she needs to continue
to live a happy life.
If you feel that you’d like to help Phoebe we would most certainly
appreciate your support! Please
email us for more information.
We’ll keep you updated on Phoebe’s progress. Thank you!

| The Greenwich Branch of Cats
Protection covers the area bounded by the River Thames to the north,
Lewisham Borough boundary to the west, the old A2 to the south,
and Bexley Borough boundary to the east. |
| PLEASE
remember how important it is to have your cat neutered.
A female cat, in just five years, can be responsible for 20,000
descendants, and the result is an exploding cat population.
As you can probably imagine, many of these
kittens will be unwanted and unloved.
If you are on a low income, and live
on our patch, we may be able to help with the cost of neutering
your cat. For more information please email
us. |

Cats Sleep Anywhere
Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair.
Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open draw, empty shoe, anybody's lap will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks.
Anywhere! They don't care! Cats sleep anywhere.
